RECENT HISTORYAfter the merger of Merck and Schering-Plough, Intervet/Schering-
Plough Animal Health became part of Merck. In 2010, Merck and
Sanofi-Aventis announced a plan to combine their respective
animal health assets, Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health
and Merial, in an equally-owned joint venture. This plan was
terminated in March 2011 because of the increasing complexity
and timelines of implementing the proposed transaction. In June
2011 the business was re-named into Merck Animal Health (MSD
Animal Health outside the U.S.A. and Canada).
