Nobilis® Rhino CV
Description
Nobilis Rhino CV is a live vaccine promoting stimulating active immunity against Avian Pneumovirus infections in chickens
Composition
Each vial contains at least 101.5 TCID50 and maximally 103.7 TCID50 per dose of live attenuated avian pneumovirus strain 1194.
Formulation
A freeze-dried pellet, to be reconstituted in an appropriate diluent.
Indications
For the active immunisation of chickens against avian pneumovirus infections, reducing the clinical signs and negative effects on production associated with the disease.
Specific claims
Broiler chickens
Studies in chickens with and without high levels of maternally derived immunity have shown that vaccination with the product from one day of age results in a strong reduction of virus excretion and of the respiratory signs caused by infection with virulent avian pneumoviruses of various antigenic categories. Protective immunity is maintained for the lifetime of the broiler birds.
Laying chickens (breeders, layers)
Studies in laying birds have shown that the product effectively primes for subsequent vaccination with inactivated avian pneumovirus vaccine, e.g. “Nobilis RT inac” or any other of Intervet’s inactivated poultry vaccines containing an avian pneumovirus component. The combination of priming at younger age with live Nobilis Rhino CV vaccine and booster vaccination with inactivated avian pneumovirus vaccine shortly before onset of lay results in complete protection against the negative effects on egg production and egg quality caused by infection with virulent avian pneumovirus during lay. Protective immunity is maintained for the whole normal laying period.
Vaccination
The vaccine can be administered to 1-day-old chicks and older chickens by coarse spray or by the oculonasal route of administration.
Dosage
One dose per bird
Method of administration
Method of administration
Oculonasal administration
Reconstitute the vaccine in clean water to which 2 % liquid skimmed milk is added and administer by means of a standardised dropper. The drop size of the dropper must equal one dose, therefore the vaccine must be dissolved in an appropriate volume. For instance, if the drop size of the dropper is 0.03 ml, the vaccine should be reconstituted at 1000 doses per 30 ml (2500 doses per 75 ml.).
Note: For oculonasal administration a special diluent, Nobilis Diluent O/N, accompanied with a standardised dropper, is available in two dosage forms: for 1000 and for 2500 doses. Reconstitute the vaccine with the appropriate amounts of Nobilis Diluent O/N.
Spray method
Reconstitute the vaccine in cool, clean water to which 2 % liquid skimmed milk is added. When the number of birds is between the standard dosages, the next higher dosage should be used. The appropriate number of vials should be opened under the surface of the water. The volume of diluent for reconstitution should be sufficient to ensure an even distribution when sprayed onto the birds. This will vary according to the age of the birds being vaccinated and the management system, but 250 to 500 ml of water per 1000 doses is suggested. The vaccine suspension should be spread evenly over the correct number of birds, at a distance of 30-40 cm using a coarse spray, preferably when the birds are sitting together in dim light. The spray apparatus should be free from sediments, corrosion and traces of disinfectants and ideally should be used for vaccination purposes only.
Vaccination programme:
The optimum time and method of administration depend largely upon the local situation. The advice of a veterinarian should be sought.

Further information
Further information No information is available on the safety and efficacy from the concurrent use of this vaccine with any other. It is therefore recommended that no other vaccines should be administered within 14 days before or after vaccination with the product.
Precautions
Vaccinate healthy birds only.
